Benefits of Filtering with a UV Lamp
Disinfection of microorganisms: The main function of the UV lamp is to disinfect water by destroying microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa, that may be present in the water. These microorganisms can cause health hazards if consumed in untreated water.
UV-C radiation: The UV lamp emits a specific type of ultraviolet light called UV-C radiation. UV-C light has a short wavelength that falls within the germicidal range, making it particularly effective at neutralizing microorganisms, disrupting their DNA and rendering them unable to reproduce or cause infections.
Inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms: As the water flows through the UV chamber, it is exposed to UV-C light. When microorganisms in water come into contact with UV-C rays, their genetic material is destroyed, rendering them inactive and unable to cause disease. This process is similar to the natural disinfection that occurs from exposure to sunlight.
Additional filtering: While traditional filtration systems can remove larger particles and some impurities, they may not be effective against microscopic microorganisms. The UV lamp complements the filtration process by targeting and eliminating these microorganisms, providing an additional layer of protection.
Chemical free and environmentally friendly: UV disinfection is a chemical-free water treatment method. Unlike chemical disinfection methods such as chlorination, UV treatment leaves no chemical residue in the water, making it environmentally friendly and safe to drink.
Continuous improvement of water quality: UV lamps work continuously while the system is in operation. This means your water is continuously treated and safe to drink, giving you the confidence that your water quality remains high over time.
